Lino printing can be considered one of the most accessible, and satisfying, methods. The idea of carving the plate to revealing the finished print, can be therapeutic to some as well as being the simpler option.
Lino cutting is mostly used with a plastic handle which can hold any of the various shapes of blades, the end of the blades can come in a variety of sizes to create in depth, detailed prints or simpiler ones. |

I experimented with different sized V shaped chisel and created the outline of a strawberry and an almond. The almond compared to the strawberry came out much better, however appears more like a coconut than an almond.
I inked up the designs using relief painting and experimented with using little to loads of ink. This created different textures of the images as well as bring out small to none details.
Most of them because of the way the cuts came out didn't turn out the way i wanted however, some came out much more successful - the almonds. |
I took the most successful images and decided to experiment within Photoshop. I took the two images and merged them into one, I aimed to create a simple 3D effect into the lino cuts and have the outline of the food detached to create that depth, I like how they came out and think the almond came out the best.
